Today, Senator Melissa Hurtado’s campaign for re-election to the newly re-drawn State Senate District 16 announced the endorsement of the California Professional Firefighters.
Brian K. Rice, President, California Professional Firefighters said: “Senator Melissa Hurtado has been one of the strongest champions for firefighters and the public safety professionals who work hard to keep our families and homes safe. Senator Hurtado has delivered critically needed funding to ensure firefighters have the training and protective equipment they need to keep themselves and the public safe. The California Professional Firefighters are proud to stand with Senator Hurtado for another term in the State Senate.”
The California Professional Firefighters is the officially chartered state council for the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), which represents more than 298,000 front line firefighters nationally.
Senator Melissa Hurtado said: “What an incredible honor to receive the support of the California Professional Firefighters, who represent the frontline heroes keeping our communities safe. I am looking forward to another term in the State Senate and delivering even more for all Californians.”
CPF’s endorsement comes fresh on the heels of the California Nurses Association throwing their early support behind Senator Hurtado’s re-election campaign. First elected in 2018, Senator Hurtado is running for re-election in the newly re-drawn 16th State Senate District, which includes 16 includes portions of Fresno, Kern and Tulare Counties and all of Kings County and the cities of Bakersfield, Delano, Kingsburg, Arvin, McFarland, Shafter, Wasco, Avenal, Corcoran, Hanford, Lemoore, Dinuba, Farmersville, Lindsay, Porterville, Traver, Tulare, Visalia and Woodlake.
The Primary election will be held on June 7, 2022.
